Slippery Slope

(Picture taken from http://www.lelykopters.nl/)

Doing a difficult task is possible. Understanding and accepting the challenge is easy. But what happens if the task to do it is on a slippery slope? Each climb does not necessarily bring you higher, instead it can bring you lower than where you started. You climb and climb, and yet you slip, sometimes little and sometimes too much. This makes the climb hard.

This is how my graduate education had been for me. On my first attempt; I was on a slippery slope. At this point, upon my second attempt, I am succeeding, I am almost done. What made the difference? The slope is still slippery, but what changes the failure to success made? It must be that I must have learnt from my previous failure. What did I learn? I learnt to be graceful at every step I take. I did not crib nor cry, I put my effort and tried again. I did not give up (I could have), instead I took the challenge and journeyed it again.

I believe we all have some slippery slopes in our lives, for me it is education and for others...it could be something else. I think the best approaches towards these difficult slopes are to try again when you fail. Failure is not to be seen as a negative element, it actually provides feedback to things that require more attention than others. What are your slippery slopes?

    Slippery slopes are ideal for skiing..I especially love the moguls on our vapid modern social landscape..we are struggling to break free from our past but it is hard to go skiing with one foot on the gondola...anyway it is very interesting watching everyone rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

    You have the Greatest avatar thingamabob EVER! and I am insanely jealous that I didn't think of that.
    oh yeah HI!

    Mine would be 'love' I think.
    I am so much in love with people who I think care for me that I start thinking them an integral part of my life.

    And the slipperiest...I fall too easily. Two kind words and I'm thinking 'how much he/she cares for me' and I would do anything to make him/her happy !

    It hurts,oh yeah it does and a helluva lot at that, but then I guess thats just me.

    Dont wanna change too.I love me.

    Liked your post.Way to go.

    @Senator,

    Perseverence is the key to succeed in anything we do. I had the same experiences as you did in my Undergrad. Good Post. and Thanks for visiting my space.

    @ Senator and Cindrella
    There are a few areas in my life where I'm still continuing to slip, But then I have my own ideals and I don't want to give them up, No matter How much ever I slip...

    the most important thing is that you learn alot.

    My slipery slope is that I want to do everything yet I just do have the time to do it...
